Correct poor eyesight naturally with these tips

 eye

by: Carolanne Wright
More often than not in our daily lives, we find ourselves staring at tiny type on computer screens and cell phones for long periods of time, leading to increased incidence of eye strain and fatigue. Add to this the natural deterioration of vision as we age -- along with the more serious problems of glaucoma and cataracts -- and sharp eyesight can seem like a distant dream. Despite these seemingly inevitable obstacles, we can, in fact, enjoy healthy vision to a ripe old age. Using contemporary techniques, and trusted remedies, healthy eyesight is possible without unpleasant procedures or excessive effort.

Eating for healthy eyes

For bright vision -- and to avoid potential problems down the road -- food is a powerful ally. Consuming a nutrient-rich diet helps protect not only health but also vision. The following edibles are a good place to start:

Dark leafy greens, carrots, pumpkin, sweet potatoes, yellow peppers and egg yolks contain potent antioxidants like beta-carotene, zeaxanthin and lutein -- which defend against age-related blindness resulting from macular degeneration. Drinking freshly pressed carrot juice, at least twice per day, is an excellent habit that keeps eye problems at bay.

Foods high in sulfur, lecithin and cysteine are another helpful addition to the diet. Examples include garlic, onions, shallots, leeks, tree nuts, dairy, coconut and legumes. These edibles fortify the lens of your eye, thereby reducing the risk of cataracts.

Blueberries, black currant, acai and goji berries are chock-full of anthocyanin -- a powerful antioxidant and anti-inflammatory that substantially improves eye health.

Coldwater fish like salmon, sardines and mackerel provide abundant essential fatty acids that help support cell membranes, which in turn, encourages sharp vision.

Additionally, vitamins C and E, along with the minerals zinc and copper, are useful in maintaining healthy eyesight. Citrus fruits, broccoli and Brussels sprouts are good sources of vitamin C, while tree nuts (especially almonds) are high in vitamin E and copper. Pastured beef, wild game and eggs are rich in zinc.

Exercises to improve vision

To support optimal eyesight, Mao Shing Ni, L.Ac., D.O.M., PhD, recommends the following routine:

  • Warm your eyes. Rub your palms together to create heat, and then place them against your eyes for five seconds. Repeat this three times.
  • Roll your eyes. Start by looking up and then slowly circle 10 times clockwise and 10 times counterclockwise.
  • Focus. Hold a pen at arm's length, focus your eyes on it, and slowly bring the pen closer until it's about 6 inches away from your nose. Then slowly move it back, keeping your eyes focused on the pen, 10 times in all.
  • Massage your temples. Using your thumb knuckles, massage your temples in small circles, 20 times in one direction and 20 in the other. Repeat the same actions above the mid-point of the eyebrows at the forehead, then below the eyes on both sides of the bridge of the nose.

Also, make sure to get enough sleep, a minimum of eight hours each night in a sufficiently dark room. Giving your eyes a break each hour of the workday is helpful too. Moreover, Trayner pinhole glasses assist in correcting problems such as computer strain, far/near sightedness, eye strain and headaches. Patrick Holford, BSc, DipION, FBANT, NTCRP, notes:

"Regular use builds up eye muscles and reshapes the eyes. Most people are amazed when they put pinhole glasses on for the first time and find they can instantly read small print and see sharply without their glasses."

How to use the sun to improve eyesight and boost immunity

by: Rich Stosse

lhealth

(NaturalNews) It is common knowledge in alternative medical circles that the sun, far from being the enemy to health that Western medicine has made it out to be, is really our best friend when it comes to health, healing, immunity and even strengthening our eyesight. How can this be? Well, in this article we're going to learn a simply eye exercise that only takes a few seconds to do each morning and evening.

As author Daniel Reid writes is his fantastic book The Tao of Health, Sex and Longevity p. 247:

"The key factor in heliotherapy is the invisible ultraviolet band, and the key receptor is the retina. A layer of cells called the epithelial cells become highly neuro-active when exposed to ultraviolet radiation, without in any way affecting vision. While the visible bands of light excite the retina's rods and cones to produce vision, the invisible ultraviolet band stimulates the adjacent epithelial cells, which transmit the stimulus as a powerful neural Impulse through the optic nerve directly to the pituitary and pineal glands. Western medicine calls this newly discovered biosystem the 'oculo-edocrine system', but the mechanism has been known to Taoists for ages. The discovery has spawned a new branch of western science known as 'photobiology.'"

The Chinese have known about the sun and its power to heal, rejuvenate and prolong life for millennia now. This is why they made sure to get out in the sun and even practiced certain exercises which involved actually looking toward the sun but not directly at it. They did this in the early morning and late afternoon each day BEFORE 9 am and AFTER 4 pm when the sun was beginning to get stronger and weaker. They never did it between the hours of 9 am to 4 pm, because the sun is too strong and eye damage could occur.

The Sun Blinking Exercise, A.K.A. "Administering Sunbeams"

The first exercise is done by looking around the sun at the four points of the compass and blinking the eyes rapidly for 3-5 seconds. Look once to the north of the sun about a 15-degree angle above it while blinking the eyes for 3-5 seconds, then to the right (east), then below it (south) and finally to the left (west) of the sun itself. Again, don't look directly at it, since the part of the retina that we want to irrigate with the UV rays and other rays from the sun exist on the side of the eyes, not in the center. This also helps prevent any damage to the eyes themselves, which is why it's done before 9am and after 4pm in the evening when the sun is not too strong, but the amount of UV rays is quite sufficient to result in significant benefits.

The second exercise is a bit more advanced. Following the same rules as the previous exercise, were going to roll our eyes around the sun for 3-5 seconds clockwise, then pause, look away for a few seconds, then repeat the roll in the opposite direction, counter-clockwise. This method provides a more complete irrigation of the retina with UV radiation. Just be careful not to let the eyes look directly AT the sun as you move the eyes around it.

At first, these exercises might cause your eyes to water or throb. That is due to the epithelial cells being without sufficient UV rays for so long, as well as possible atrophy of the eye muscles, which is one reason that I like the eye rolling exercises the most, which have other benefits to vision by themselves.

Moringa Oil For Eyesight Benefits

Moringa Oil For Eyesight Benefits

Top three factors for improving your eyesight naturally

by: Derek Henry

eye

(NaturalNews) When looking to improve your eyesight, it seems that eye exercises are the most commonly prescribed method to do so. Although it is an important component, there are many other factors you need to consider if you want to seriously improve your eyesight.

Detoxify your liver

According to Traditional Chinese Medicine, there is a strong relationship between your liver and eye health. Improving the health of your liver can often help prevent and improve eye conditions.

The liver is your main detoxifier and filter of your bloodstream. Any toxins you ingest eventually end up in your liver to be broken down and excreted from your body. The better your liver is at detoxification, the fewer toxins you will have in your body.

However, when the liver becomes compromised, the quantity of toxins increases, causing free radical damage and harm to your organs and tissues. The delicate retina and macula in your eyes are very vulnerable to free radical damage, and it can have a seriously negative impact on your vision. Free radicals can attack the retina and result in the breakdown of healthy tissue.

Liver blood deficiency can cause blurry vision, short sightedness, dry eyes and floaters. If you have excessive liver heat, it can result in painful, burning and blood shot eyes.

Based on these points alone, it becomes apparent that detoxifying your liver is an important component to improving your eyesight naturally.

Nourish your eyes and brain

As a general rule, eating plenty of raw vegetables that are rich in antioxidants and various carotenoids (typically yellow, orange and red pigments) will help protect and improve eyesight. This is mainly accomplished through lutein and zeaxanthin, two specific antioxidants found in large quantities around the lens and retina of the eyes, which have been shown to reduce the risk of macular degeneration.

Foods that are high in carotenoids:

• Carrots
• Sweet potatoes
• Pumpkin
• Spinach
• Broccoli
• Goji berries
• Cantaloupe
• Apricots

Another important source is astaxanthin, known as the "King of Carotenoids."

Also consider eyebright herb, cayenne pepper, red raspberry and bayberry bark for additional benefits, as well as foods high in zinc such as pumpkin seeds, spinach, beans, beef and chicken.

Another important part of clear vision is brain function, so ensure that you eat plenty of healthy brain foods as well like wild-caught salmon, avocados, coconut oil, hemp, walnuts and brazil nuts.

Eye exercises

One of the best ways to do eye exercises is to use the sun as the focal point (do not look at it directly but, rather, around it) during less intense sunlight hours (typically before 9 a.m. and after 4 p.m.) in order to strengthen the "oculo-endocrine system."

Quite simply, the key to this therapy is the invisible ultraviolet band, and the retina. While the visible bands of light stimulate the retina's cone and rods that produce vision, the invisible band stimulates the adjacent epithelial cells, which transmit the stimulus as a powerful nerve impulse through the optic nerve directly to the pituitary and pineal glands. This is a powerful healing and strengthening exercise for the eyes.

To put this powerful force to use, try the "sun blinking exercise":

• Look once to the north of the sun (about 15 degrees above it) while blinking the eyes for 3-5 seconds
• Do the same after looking to the east (right), south (below) and west (left) of the sun

Again, do not look directly at the sun, as the as the part of the retina we want to hit with the rays of the sun is on the sides and not the center.

Enjoy your new and improved vision.

Apps That Can Improve Your Vision

by Justine Alford

Earlier this year, a team of neuroscientists based at the University of California, Riverside, published a study in the journal Current Biology in which they tested out their new app called UltimEyes. Rather than improving the eye itself, the app works by exploiting a fundamental characteristic of the brain—neuroplasticity. Connections between brain cells are malleable and can be strengthened, so by exercising the area of the brain that is responsible for processing visual information (the visual cortex), it is possible to improve visual performance. This plasticity has been demonstrated in various prior studies on adults, which usually involve repetitive practice on visual tasks.

The visual stimuli used by UltimEyes and various other eye-training apps are patterns called Gabor patches, which are blurred lines presented on a grey background. Gabor patches are used because they have features that match and therefore activate the receptive field properties of brain cells located in the visual cortex. By presenting the eyes with these patterns and gradually making them more difficult to identify, your brain gets better at processing them, which leads to an improvement in vision.

As reported in the study, the team tested out their training platform on 19 baseball players and found that it improved the distance at which they could see clearly by an average of 31%. Many of them even achieved greater than 20/20 vision after using the app 30 times.  Furthermore, the participants also had decreased strike-outs, suggesting it could actually help in playing baseball.

Another app, called GlassesOff, also uses Gabor patches to improve vision, but this promises to help users decrease their need for reading glasses. As described in Scientific Reports, a 30-person study found that presbyopic (age-related long-sightedness) participants were able to read letters 1.6 times smaller after repeatedly using the app. Furthermore, the scientists report that users’ eye health also improved by an average of 8.6 years.

These apps can’t cure eye conditions such as presbyopia, but they can improve the ability of your brain to interpret information. While it’s well recognized that Gabor patches can activate and boost efficiency of the visual cortex, at the moment it’s unclear what precisely is going on in the brain that leads to the observed improvements in vision. Moreover, researchers don’t know how long-lasting the effects are. Still, the results are encouraging, and some lines of evidence even suggest that these apps could potentially delay the need for reading glasses.

HOW TO HEAL YOUR EYESIGHT NATURALLY

eyesight
I have alright eyes, although for many years I did wear glasses. Several years ago I began feeling as though I wanted my eyes to be better, and I didn't have thousands of dollars to spend on laser surgery. So I began practicing healing my eyes with will alone, and some various ingredients that I had picked up along the way.
The basis is to recognize that all of the strain and stress in your eyes is not solely related to your eyes, but the stress that you are carrying around in your body, particularly in your face, which relates heavily to your brain as well. Beginning by realizing the stress in your face – and relaxing the muscles around your eyes is the first step of this, and understand that healing is a process which can take some time, especially if your external environment is a particularly stressful one.
Close your eyes gently and look into the sun absorbing the light (also while relaxing the muscles). This can facilitate a calm, warming soothing feeling across your whole face and even the rest of your body, and can greatly help relax :)
There is also food that is great for your eyes, such as Carrots, Eggs, and Almonds! (Just make sure it’s organic!)
So a few days ago I stumbled upon this video below and I got super excited about it! The results that I've had have been noticeable to me, but I had never been able to put it into words or describe it as i’m able to now.
Upon watching the video, I found myself pleasantly surprised.  This guy is a legitimate doctor, who has used a method from a “renegade optometrist” from about a hundred years ago who put together a solid formula for healing your eyes.

Everything he says really resonates with me, and I think even though there’s a lot more to it, it sounds a lot like what I've been practicing. For example, as I wrote earlier when I wake up in the morning I like to go outside and just close my eyes gently and stare into the sun. It not only helps my eyes wake up, but my whole mind wakes up! Not to mention, my eyes lose their “morning grogginess” completely, and my eyesight seems to be really great, much better than had if I did not do it.
Likewise, the whole “don’t squint” thing is another practice, and it totally makes sense! Like, if you’re whole face is squinting and stressed out all of the time, then that’s constricting the way your face and head receives energy – both with light through our eyes, energy in our 3rd eyes, or smells through our noses.
And if there’s no more strain, then your brain, eyes, and facial muscles can all function with ease and clarity. Energy can flow smoothly, and it only makes sense that your eyes will naturally improve as well :)
For all of us with glasses, lets give these tips a practice and see how we do!
