7 WAYS TO HEAL IBS NATURALLY

Cute woman having a stomachache in the bathroomIrritable Bowel Syndrome: it’s an affliction that affects millions of people worldwide (including one in five Americans) every day – causing chronic pain and driving those who suffer with it to their wits end.

But what if I was to tell you there is a way to kick IBS in the guts without resorting to prescription drugs and chemicals?
7 Ways To Heal IBS Naturally

Here are my top seven tips to showing IBS the door naturally.

1. ELIMINATE ALLERGENS

Anyone who knows me will be able to tell you that I am not a fan of gluten! With our guts not designed to break down the protein (gluten destroys the gut lining), eradicating it from your diet can be a simple yet effective way of curing IBS – fast! Present in wheat, barley, rye, oats and spelt, gluten pops up everywhere, including in bread, cereal, pasta, sauces, crackers, cakes, pastries, tortillas and beer, amongst other foods. When removing gluten from your diet to help reduce IBS therefore, it is critical to ascertain exactly what items need to be avoided in order to give your gut the true break it deserves.

Other such common allergens include dairy, yeast, eggs, corn, soy and nuts. If you get no relief from boycotting gluten (make sure you cut it out for at least six weeks), eliminating one of these other food groups from your diet (and then reintroducing each one over a period of 12 weeks), can also be an effective way to ascertain if your IBS has a trigger. And remember – whatever you eat, always ensure it is high quality, organic and unprocessed.

2. GO PROBIOTIC

When it comes to gut health, it is vital that the natural flora in the stomach is allowed to thrive. As we already know, our immune systems are connected to our gut and when our gut is not happy, our whole body is not happy. Unfortunately however, certain life stressors such as anxiety, prescription drugs, chlorinated water, farmed meat, and processed food etc. can throw off the natural bacteria in our bodies, inflaming the lining of the gut as a result.

So how to get a happy tummy? Probiotics.

Probiotics are the ‘friendly’ bacteria that keep our digestive systems healthy. Natural probiotics include sauerkraut, kefir, miso soup, kombucha, tempeh and kimchi. Apple cider vinegar is also great for ‘good’ bacteria. If you cannot get your hands on any of these foods, a good quality probiotic supplement can work equally as well.

3. OIL UP

Essential oils are one of nature’s most potent medicines. Did you know that frankincense can help to reduce inflammation in the body – boosting the immune system and supporting the human emotional and nervous core? Until Laurentine and I made the Food Matters documentary, neither did we!

Did you also know that peppermint oil can calm muscle spasms in the gut, while tarragon, fennel, caraway, coriander and anise can together soothe stomachaches and reduce bloating? Essential oils are capable of so much, and their amazing healing properties in relation to IBS are no exception.

4. FEED ON FIBER

Taking additional fiber to keep your bowel functioning can be very effective at reducing IBS systems. Organic psyllium is the best in this regard in my view – adapting to the needs of the digestive system as they arise. Alternatively, a few tablespoons of freshly ground flax seeds taken daily can work wonders.

5. TREAT YOUR MIND

When it comes to the physical manifestation of our inner minds, our guts tend to be a primary outlet. Many people with unresolved emotional conflict and tension present with IBS, and therefore treating the mind can be just as important as treating the body. Yoga, meditation and exercise are three such ways to help cleanse the mind and work through inner turmoil, and can make an immense difference to gut health.

6. MAP YOUR DIET

Recent research has shown that a group of gassy carbohydrates called FODMAPs (Fermentable Oligosaccharides, Disaccharides, Monosaccharides And Polyols) significantly contribute to IBS. It is therefore arguably possible to reduce the symptoms of IBS by avoiding these foods. The program is known as the Low FODMAP Diet and is now recommended as one of the most effective dietary therapies for IBS. Foods to avoid include apples, onions, milk, beans and mushrooms.

7. AMEND YOUR EATING REGIME

Eating small portions slowly and regularly can help reduce the impact and strain on the gut. In doing so, IBS symptoms can be greatly decreased. Sounds easy? It is.

Do you have any natural IBS-fighting suggestions to add to this list?

Scientific Proof We Can Heal Ourselves

can-science-prove-mind-heals-body

Whether you’re battling a life-threatening illness, saddled with a “chronic” health condition that Western medicine hasn’t been able to cure, or battling nuisance symptoms that decrease your quality of life, or just hoping to optimize your energy, vitality, looks, and longevity, there is scientific proof that you can heal yourself.
As a skeptic herself, Dr. Lissa Rankin makes an irrefutable case, documenting with cold, hard science that the medical establishment has been proving that the mind can heal the body for over 50 years.
Loads of data proves that the mind can believe itself well. In clinical trials, we call it “the placebo effect.” Patients treated with placebos don’t just feel better. It’s not just “in their heads.” They’ve actually had warts disappear, bronchi dilate, colons become less inflamed, hair growth on the heads of bald men, ulcers heal, and other measurable physiological phenomena. We also know that the opposite is true, and the mind can think itself sick, which researchers call “the nocebo effect.” When patients are given injections with saline and told it is chemotherapy, they vomit and lose their hair.
How do such things happen physiologically? In her book Mind Over Medicine: Scientific Proof You Can Heal Yourself, Lissa Rankin, MD, explains the science behind how a positive or negative thought or emotion in the mind translates into spontaneous repair in the body. As it turns out, the body has built in self-repair mechanisms that fix damaged proteins, repair DNA, correct hormonal imbalances, and gobble up cancer cells, infectious agents, and foreign bodies that our bodies are exposed to everyday. These mechanisms explain the spontaneous remissions that are reported in the medical literature from seemingly “incurable” diseases like Stage 4 cancer, HIV, hypothyroidism, diabetes, and even an untreated gunshot wound to the head. Yet patients often feel powerless to harness these natural self-repair mechanisms.
Not anymore. In this book, Dr. Rankin teaches a scientifically-founded six step process you can follow to optimize the body’s capacity to flip on its natural self-repair mechanisms when the body becomes ill. She also teaches the tools to implement the power of the mind as preventative medicine, to increase the chance that you will one day die of “old age,” rather than dying too young as the result of disabling of the body’s ability to repair itself.
What disables the body’s natural self-repair mechanisms? We all know that stress is bad for the body. But do you understand how this works? Loads of data proves that stress comes in different forms — the stress of feeling lonely, work stress, financial stress, marital stress, family stress, the stress of feeling creatively blocked or spiritually disconnected. Regardless of what triggers it, stress flips on a series of physiological cascades associated with the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis and the “fight or flight” response of the sympathetic nervous system. In other words, whether you’re stressed about money, your marriage, or your job, your body can’t tell the difference between a perceived threat, such as impending bankruptcy, and a real threat, such as getting chased by a lion.
But here’s the kicker. The body can only repair itself when the body is in a state of physiological rest. Whenever the body thinks it’s time to run away from the lion (or whatever chronic, repetitive perceived threat it believes itself to be under), it shuts down self-repair. After all, who cares about long term maintenance like killing unwanted cancer cells if you’re about to be eaten by a lion? In Mind Over Medicine: Scientific Proof You Can Heal Yourself, Dr. Rankin shares not just the scientific proof that you can heal yourself, but also tips for using the power of the mind to optimize the body’s natural self-repair mechanisms, so disease prevention and spontaneous remissions aren’t just something that happens randomly, but something you might be able to experience for yourself.

Science Theory Shows We Can Reprogram Our DNA to Heal Ourselves with Vibration?

Spoon-bending

As though to confirm the hunch many of us had that our ‘junk’ DNA was anything but disposable, researchers from the Gene and Stem Cell Therapy Program at Sydney’s Centenary Institute have proven that 97 percent of human DNA programs or encodes proteins in our bodies. One of the researchers involved in this study said, “this discovery, involving what was previously referred to as “junk,” opens up a new level of gene expression control . . .”

This also means there are multiple modalities that mainstream science has yet to give a nod to, which just might re-train or reprogram our DNA — even cells which have become cancerous or are mutilated by the onslaught of toxins in our environment and negative emotional baggage which has been proven to have an undesirable impact on health. Many people have compared human DNA to the Internet. It communicates immense amounts of information in microcosmically small, but significant ways, mimicking a vast network of information portals, not unlike the billions of websites connected to one another all over the world. It may account for our intuition, spontaneous healing, and a number of other phenomena that mainstream science is just beginning to understand.

CHAOS THEORY AND DNA

Chaos theory states that chaotic appearances are just a very complex system affected by very subtle changes in an almost infinite array of varying possibilities. When you consider that humans have 3 billion base pairs of DNA, most of which are identical, but that there are at least 3 billion raised to the 4th power (4 raised to 3,000,000,000) of positions possible – a number larger than the number of particles in the Universe – you might just call DNA a highly organized but extremely complex system – seeming chaos. Is it not possible that such a complex system can be affected by very subtle shifts of light or sound, even the human voice?

THE DNA SPECTRUM: MAKING MUSIC WITH BIOLOGY

There are numerous scientists (not to mention thousands of years of spiritual adepts) who claim light and sound alter our DNA and directly influence our biology. DNA is a type of language, albeit a complex one. Computer simulations and a purely biological approach to understanding the language, have failed however, in the same way that language fails to describe ‘ascended states.’

Mainstream science will tell us that while DNA involves construction rules that affect different sequences, the ‘dictionary’ of DNA does not follow Zipf’s law, which every other natural language follows. So, even though DNA has structure, it is not a language. I heartily disagree. If you have ever watched a musician who was skilled in playing his or her instrument technically, to absolute perfection, but somehow lost the emotional ‘language’ which is necessary to convey an ovation-inspired performance, then you understand that stringing together a perfect phrase or sequence of notes does not account for an entirely separate and subtle language that speaks to the human heart and mind. It is the technical perfection of the right rhythms and notes paired with heart and passion which brings us to our feet. Similarly, DNA can be strung together in its typical set of A-T or C-G, but it is the junk DNA which might decide whether your cells cause you to develop cancer or be gifted with the ability to see clairvoyantly.

Russian linguists, Dr. Pjotr Garajajev and Vladimir Poponin found that DNA does follow similar patterns and rules to human language, but this is not the most interesting information, by a long shot. In fact, biologist, Dr. David Deamer and Susan Alexjander, who holds an MA in music, have discovered that DNA makes its own beautiful music before we even try to alter it. The two measured the actual molecular vibrations of DNA and recorded it using an infrared spectrophotometer. They exposed each section of DNA to infrared light and measured the wavelength it absorbed, and therefore determined its sound frequency. What it made was ‘hauntingly beautiful’ music. “Some of the combinations of frequencies,” Alexjander said, “. . .they are just stunning. It sounds alive to me.”

IS THIS FOR REAL?

While interesting and inspiring, at least to the imagination, ideas of singing DNA and re-structuring DNA with intentional frequency are certainly difficult to find in practical application and are as of yet lacking legitimate scientific validation. As with Chi, the mapped out essence of life to Chinese medicine, the difficulty in finding verifiable proof and use for these theories is something that has earned this line of thinking the title of new age and pseudo-science.

Science does, however confirm that sound and light can and do directly influence the body’ healing processes. Researchers at the University of Cincinatti have had measurable success in applying high-frequency electrical signals to vascular cells with great effect in healing chronic, persistent wounds like diabetic ulcers. For decades the mystery of Royal Rife and his frequency healing machines have been touted by many as the end-all cure for a wide array of diseases, parasites, and bacterial and fungal infections. His discoveries suggest that every living organism has its own unique resonant frequency and that by subjecting the body to electrical currents that target specific pathogens, diseases and ailments can be neutralized and destroyed without pharmaceuticals or invasive procedures. Furthermore, acupuncture, the ancient Chinese system of medicine that works directly with the body’s energy conduits and has offered tangible healing benefits to millions over many centuries, has also recently been validated by scientific research.

These examples corroborate, to a degree, the ancient spiritual notion that the human body is enlivened by a subtle energetic system that can be manipulated by the application of sound, light and intention. For one to understand this on experiential terms, however, it is necessary to cultivate the sensitivity to detect and direct this energy, but for many, this process of cultivation is simply too demanding and too methodical to be assimilated as a habitual part of daily life. Most people simply do not have the patience in our fast paced environment to achieve the awareness of this, scientists included.

SHAMANISM MEETS SCIENCE

While science is making exciting advances in understanding our quantum universe, the timeless healing modalities of shamanism have of late been forcing their way into the popular conversation about healing and spiritual development. In fact, shamanism may offer us the best example of how the use of sound and directed energy can bring about healing in the body and psyche.

In a shamanic healers toolkit, the most commonly utilized and highly prized agents of healing are often Icaros, which are Sacred songs sung by the doctor to the patient to affect health and well-being by enchanting the subtle and unseen spiritual influences that may be gripping the body and psyche. In addition to Icaros, shaman will also often employ chacapas, bundled dried leaves, as well as other musical or tuning instruments which create sounds that are influential to the body’s energetic system.

Often coupled with the use of plant medicines, shamanic practices can have powerfully positive effects on the sick, and some scientists are recognizing that the alkaloid rich medicine Ayahuasca may be able to assist in curing cancer. Eduardo E. Schenberg of the Federal University of Sao Paulo, has recently publicized research indicating that the compounds DMT and harmine, found in Ayahuasca, have “been shown to induce the death of some cancer cells and inhibit the proliferation of human carcinoma cells.”

While reductionist science is good at isolating molecular reactions, the truth is that any research on the subject of Ayahuasca is incomplete without acknowledging the beneficial presence of shamanic healers who are capable of bringing out the highest energetic potential of the effects of any chemical compounds within Ayahuasca, or any other plant medicine. Administering the compounds without the context of genuine shamanism is hollow, and lacks the full picture of the healing potential of shamanic medicines. The primary means in which shaman communicate with a patient is through their Icaros and other instruments of sound and vibration, which demonstrates their understanding that a significant part of the science of healing is working with vibration and frequency.

CONCLUSION

While certainly an interesting idea to muse, hard evidence that frequency and vibration can directly effect DNA and the body’s healing processes is still forthcoming, however, there is an ample body of experiential human evidence to inspire and warrant further examination of this topic.

This is not an easy theory to prove, or disprove, and the answers are unlikely to satisfy everyone. The best that we can see is that truth is relative to personal experience in some ways, and when an individual has spiritual, or cosmic experiences that do not fall within the explainable territory of rigid science, they unfortunately are left high and dry by a world paradigm that is stringently adamant on disproving mysticism.

Certainly, this is a complicated and sometimes heated topic.

How to Heal Cavities Naturally

healcavities1

The world is slowly waking up to the fact that, when you give the body what it needs, it can heal things we previously thought were impossible. A fine example of what is often deemed as an incurable health problem is dental cavities, but extensive research is now becoming more public about the true nature of tooth decay and the fact that there are proven remedies that can remedy it.
The lies perpetrated about tooth decay

How to heal Cavities naturally:

According to the American Dental Association, the reason we have tooth decay is as follows:
“[Tooth decay] occurs when foods containing carbohydrates (sugars and starches) such as milk, pop, raisins, cakes or candy are frequently left on the teeth. Bacteria that live in the mouth thrive on these foods, producing acids as a result. Over a period of time, these acids destroy tooth enamel, resulting in tooth decay.”
There are a few problems with this theory, including:
  • Groups of indigenous people who had fermentable carbohydrates stuck on their teeth all the time that did not brush or floss were mostly or completely free of tooth decay.
  • Bacteria do not consume processed sugar or flour because of the lack of nutrients in them.
  • Foods that bacteria like to eat, such as milk, vegetables, meat, fish and fruit, are not commonly implicated in causes of tooth decay.
So if the modern explanation of tooth decay is not accurate, what is actually the cause of tooth decay?
What actually causes tooth decay
Tooth decay, as researched by Dr. Weston Price and other dental pioneers, boiled down to three factors:
  • Not enough minerals in the diet.
  • Not enough fat-soluble vitamins (A, D, E, and K) in the diet.
  • Nutrients not being readily bioavailable, and your intestinal system not properly absorbing them. The presence of phytic acid largely influences this factor.
Over a period of time, if your diet lacks vitamins and minerals from a poor diet and/or contains high levels of phytates (from grains, seeds, nuts, and legumes), the blood chemistry and the ratio of calcium and phosphorous become out of balance, which results in minerals being pulled from bones, causing tooth and bone loss.
So, the long-standing belief that sugar causes tooth decay is true, but as a result of it depleting nutrients from the body, not because bacteria eat it and produce acid that ruins your teeth.

The food remedies that can heal cavities and tooth decay

In order to restore the ratio of calcium and phosphorus in our blood, and to enable minerals to bond to our teeth, it is not enough to just avoid eating too many sweet or processed foods. We must also eat health-building foods, containing copious amounts of minerals and vitamins that will build a glassy hard tooth structure.
Foods to focus on are:
  • Coconut oil, grass-fed organic dairy (especially butter), grass-fed meats, seafood and bone broths.
  • Organic cooked vegetables (soups with bone broth are ideal).
  • Organ and gland meats, like liver.
Limit foods that are high in phytic acid, like grains, beans, nuts and seeds, as well as limiting processed food intake full of processed flours and sugars that upset blood sugar balance.
Supplements to consider are:
  • Fermented cod liver oil – very high in fat soluble vitamins A, D and K.
  • Magnesium – required to use calcium and phosphorous effectively.
  • Gelatin – if you don’t have time to make bone broth, this is a good alternative and is great for gums and digestion.
Now go get your pearly white smile back.

HOW TO HEAL YOUR EYESIGHT NATURALLY

eyesight
I have alright eyes, although for many years I did wear glasses. Several years ago I began feeling as though I wanted my eyes to be better, and I didn't have thousands of dollars to spend on laser surgery. So I began practicing healing my eyes with will alone, and some various ingredients that I had picked up along the way.
The basis is to recognize that all of the strain and stress in your eyes is not solely related to your eyes, but the stress that you are carrying around in your body, particularly in your face, which relates heavily to your brain as well. Beginning by realizing the stress in your face – and relaxing the muscles around your eyes is the first step of this, and understand that healing is a process which can take some time, especially if your external environment is a particularly stressful one.
Close your eyes gently and look into the sun absorbing the light (also while relaxing the muscles). This can facilitate a calm, warming soothing feeling across your whole face and even the rest of your body, and can greatly help relax :)
There is also food that is great for your eyes, such as Carrots, Eggs, and Almonds! (Just make sure it’s organic!)
So a few days ago I stumbled upon this video below and I got super excited about it! The results that I've had have been noticeable to me, but I had never been able to put it into words or describe it as i’m able to now.
Upon watching the video, I found myself pleasantly surprised.  This guy is a legitimate doctor, who has used a method from a “renegade optometrist” from about a hundred years ago who put together a solid formula for healing your eyes.

Everything he says really resonates with me, and I think even though there’s a lot more to it, it sounds a lot like what I've been practicing. For example, as I wrote earlier when I wake up in the morning I like to go outside and just close my eyes gently and stare into the sun. It not only helps my eyes wake up, but my whole mind wakes up! Not to mention, my eyes lose their “morning grogginess” completely, and my eyesight seems to be really great, much better than had if I did not do it.
Likewise, the whole “don’t squint” thing is another practice, and it totally makes sense! Like, if you’re whole face is squinting and stressed out all of the time, then that’s constricting the way your face and head receives energy – both with light through our eyes, energy in our 3rd eyes, or smells through our noses.
And if there’s no more strain, then your brain, eyes, and facial muscles can all function with ease and clarity. Energy can flow smoothly, and it only makes sense that your eyes will naturally improve as well :)
For all of us with glasses, lets give these tips a practice and see how we do!

Vinegar provides immediate sunburn relief, heals other skin conditions

For most people, the warmer weather means more time spent outdoors where the chances of getting a sunburn occur. While protecting skin is important, there are instances where it's difficult to seek shade or times where a wide-brimmed hat is forgotten.

Even the commonly-held thought that suntan lotion is helpful has been debunked; most suntan lotions are laden with harmful chemicals which studies show have the potential to cause cancer rather than prevent it.(1) Furthermore, suntan lotions have been shown to reduce the levels of vitamin D produced by the body, affecting its ability to prevent cancers.vinegar

Vinegar for sunburn relief

Still, whether it's from a forgotten beach umbrella or just a great deal of outdoor enjoyment, a sunburn can be painful and frustrating. Rather than thinking it's best to leave the reddened skin alone or purchase a slew of products designed to soothe the area, one common household item can provide immediate relief. Vinegar, either of the apple cider or regular white distilled variety, can help heal a sunburn with ease.

Just ask Kaitlyn, who went camping and ended up with a bad sunburn during her 10-day lakeside trip.(2) She turned to vinegar, putting some on a towel and then dabbing it on her body before bedtime. The result?

She woke up with " . . . no redness, no itching, no tingling" and says that her skin never even peeled.(2) She explains that at first she was somewhat hesitant, thinking that perhaps vinegar might aggravate her skin even more, but says that it was extremely effective. She says that it " . . . immediately takes all the pain out of your sunburn."(2)

Why vinegar works, and other skin conditions it helps heal

According to Bonnie K. McMillen, R.N., B.S.N., college health nurse at the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford, "Vinegar has antiseptic properties that can kill germs and relieve pain."(3) Quite simply, it works by balancing the skin's acid and alkalinity levels so that the healing process takes place. Everything from redness and blisters can be reduced.

In addition to providing sunburn relief, vinegar can help improve other skin conditions too.

For example, a mixture of vinegar diluted in water can help people with acne since it has astringent properties that keep excess oils at bay.(4) It's even effective at treating nail fungus infections, fighting itchy skin and removing clogged dirt from pores.(4).

Star Trek has once again proved how ahead of its time it was after being the influence behind a new range of biotechnological devices from Nasa.
When Commander Riker has a run in with Data’s cat, in TV series Star Trek: The Next Generation, Dr Beverley Crusher heals his wounds instantly using a simple handheld device.
The gadget, called a dermal regenerator, works by regenerating Riker’s cells and despite being a work of fiction, the technology could soon become a reality on board the International Space Station.
Nasa has signed a deal to create ‘novel biotechnology’ devices including a system that builds 3D human cells, and another that treats pain externally.

Nasa has partnered with GRoK Technologies to build biotechnology including a device called BioReplicates. It will create 3D human tissue similar to how the dermal regenerator worked in Star Trek, pictured. The gadgets will be built under patent licensing agreements in partnership with Texas-based GRoK Technologies and are the results of the agency's Technology Transfer Program.

The first device, called BioReplicates, will let users create 3D human tissue models that can be used for drug and cosmetic testing.
They will increase the ‘safety, efficacy and toxicity’ of current tests and add ‘greater accuracy, reliability and cost-efficiency.’
Nasa said the technology could help reduce animal testing, too.
The technology would work in a similar way to the dermal regenerators used in Star Trek and future models could one day heal wounds automatically.
In the year 2369, in Star Trek: The Next Generation episode Timescape, Commander Riker was treated with a dermal regenerator after he suffered from deep cuts on his head caused by Data's cat Spot, pictured. GIF created by Sploid

A second platform, called Scionic, would be used in medical devices to target pain and inflammation externally. The Russian Federal Space Agency (RKA) already has similar technology called Scenar, pictured, that sends electrical signals to a person's brain, which in turn releases natural painkillers

        STAR TREK DERMAL REGENERATOR
The dermal regenerator was a medical device used by doctors and and nurses in Starfleet, as well as by civilians, and other races in the Star Trek universe.
It was used to almost instantly heal minor injuries like cuts or burns to the skin by regenerating cells quickly.
The device was also used to heal scar tissue, as well as restore facial features that had been surgically altered back to normal.

The second technology, called Scionic, would be used in medical devices that could target musculo skeletal pain and inflammation externally.
For example, devices could be rubbed over the skin and boost the body’s natural painkilling functions, without the use of drugs.

        THE RUSSIAN SCENAR DEVICE

The Russian Federal Space Agency (RKA) has already created technology that performs a similar job to GRoK Technologies’ Scionic concept.
Called Scenar, the device uses a mild electrical signal that’s placed over a person’s skin on areas of pain.
Dermal nerve receptors in the skin send these signals through the central nervous system to the brain.
The brain reacts by releasing neuropeptides - natural healing and regulatory substances, including some of the strongest known painkillers such as endorphins.
It differs from TENS machines, because it encourages the body to heal itself, whereas TENS uses electrical signals to temporarily block pain signals from reaching the brain.
Nasa said it is interested in the potential these technologies present for regenerating bone and muscle.
During long spaceflights, for example, astronauts have been known to develop osteopenia - a condition that arises from the loss of bone and muscle mass and bone density.
The patented technologies will help GRoK develop breakthrough products for the research and medical communities and advance overall understanding of biomedicine.
‘It's not just science fiction anymore. All indications are that 21st century life sciences will change dramatically during the next several decades, and GRoK is working to define the forefront of a new scientific wave,’ explained GRoK's founder and CEO Moshe Kushman.
The Russian Federal Space Agency (RKA) has already created technology that performs a similar job to GRoK Technologies’ Scionic concept.

Oil Pulling For Whiter Teeth and Better Breath

Oil Pulling HeaderIt has taken quite some time, but oil pulling has finally gained some popularity in the United States. Used primarily in Ayurvedic medicine, oil pulling is a fantastic oral detoxification procedure that is simply done by swishing a tablespoon of oil (typically coconut, olive or sesame) in your mouth for 10-20 minutes.

What is Oil Pulling? by Dr. Josh Axe and Eric Zielinski

Oil pulling works by cleaning (detoxifying) the oral cavity in a similar way that soap cleans dirty dishes. It literally sucks the dirt (toxins) out of your mouth and creates a clean, antiseptic oral environment that contributes to the proper flow of dental liquid that is needed to prevent cavities and disease.
This unbelievably effective procedure has been used for centuries as a traditional India remedy to:
    • Cure tooth decay
    • Prevent bad breath
    • Heal bleeding gums
    • Whiten teeth
    • Soothe throat dryness
    • Heal cracked lips
    • Strengthening gums and jaw
    Oil Pulling Benefits
In fact, oil pulling is mentioned in the Ayurvedic text Charaka Samhita where it is claimed to cure about 30 systemic diseases ranging from headaches and tooth decay to diabetes and asthma.

How to Do Oil Pulling with Coconut Oil

We recommend using unrefined, organic coconut oil and a drop or two of clove or tea tree essential oils to achieve the best antiseptic and anti-fungal effects of oil pulling. Here are some tips:
    1. Put 2 teaspoons of coconut oil into your mouth. The best time to oil pull (like most other detoxification procedures) is first thing in the morning right after you get out of bed.
    2. Swish for 20 minutes.  Don’t let the 20 minute time frame deter you. You won’t even notice 20 minutes have gone by if you do this during your normal morning routine (i.e. while you shower, put your clothes on and prep for the day).  But, if you can only do it for 5-10 minutes, it’s still worthwhile.
    3. Spit oil into the trash. Don’t be shocked if the oil/saliva mixture you spit out is milky white or yellow.
    4. Immediately afterwards, rinse your mouth out with warm water. Use salt water for added antimicrobial properties.
    5. Finally, brush your teeth as normal.  For additional benefits, use my natural toothpaste recipe with baking soda, coconut oil and clove essential oil.
Note: This should be a relatively relaxing process, so don’t feel compelled to vigorously swish your mouth with oil for the entire time or else you’re bound to get sore jaw muscles. Simply move the oil in your mouth and through your teeth without swallowing any of it.

    The Research

As stated by one study, “The myth that the effect of oil-pulling therapy on oral health was just a placebo effect has been broken”.
Here are just a couple studies proving oil pulling benefits on your oral and whole body health.

    Oil Pulling To Prevent Cavities

In 2008, the Journal of Indian Society of Pedodontics and Preventative Dentistry published a triple-blind random control trial that evaluated the effects oil pulling with sesame oil has onSteptococcus mutans bacterial count in plaque and saliva.
Twenty boys were recruited to be part of two groups; one in which 10 practiced oil pulling and another that used regular mouthwash for 10 minutes every day in the morning.
After collecting samples for 2 weeks, it was discovered that, even though the chemicals in mouth wash were slightly more effective in reducing the bacteria, oil pulling was significantly effective in killing S. mutans, one of the primary causes of cavities.
However I believe if coconut oil was used which has anti-microbial properties unlike sesame oil we may have seen that coconut oil was just as effective or more effective.

Oil Pulling Heals Gum Disease and Bad Breath

In 2010, the same journal shared the results of a similar study that evaluated the effects oil pulling has on bad breath and oral yeast. Again, taking 20 young volunteers, the results of this study were even more in favor of oil pulling than the one above.
According to the authors, “Oil pulling therapy has been equally effective to the chemicals in mouth wash on bad breath and candida”. Additionally, the researchers discovered that oil pulling also has statistically significant effects on reducing the gingival index, a marker that determines the severity for gingivitis (gum disease).
At the end of the day, you have nothing to lose, but everything to gain from oil pulling. There are relatively no known oil pulling side effects and, as we’ve seen in the research, the list of benefits is quite remarkable. Try it today and make it a part of your natural hygiene routine!
