Superfood smoothies are the solution to all those who are always on the run and wants to keep a healthy lifestyle despite of their busy schedules.
But why is there a need for superfood smoothies?
If a certain fruit, spice, vegetable or herb has antioxidant properties, packed with nutrients and minerals good for the body, rids the body of free radicals and is an overall powerhouse of goodness packed in one food, then it is definitely a superfood!
Downside of it is sometimes, it takes a lot of time and effort to prepare, it has taste that is from bland to downright awful, or you don’t even have the skill or knowledge to cook it! Although, you, always have that fridge and that trusty blender! Make yourself a smoothie!
Here’s a way to do your own superfood smoothie:
During the weekend, or in one day of the week, prepare the superfood you would want to have a daily dose of. If it is a fruit or vegetable like pineapple or tomatoes, chop or slice it up into bits and chunks (take out the seeds of course) and put it into ziplock containers portioning each container to be equivalent to one serving.
Then stock it inside the freezer. If it is liquid like coffee or green tea, brew it and place it in pitchers or containers to be stock cold in the fridge (Do not put it inside the freezer!) Come the next day, all you have to do is dunk in those frozen fruits, pour in a good amount of your super drink, put yogurt or other stuff in it.
If you want, sprinkle in the dried berries, nuts and drizzle in the super spices like cinnamon, go ahead. And grind away! In just little to no time, you now have a superfood smoothie!
Mix and match those flavors! Besides, these are superfoods, so it’s all good; it’s all healthy! Find out what works for your palette. You can even make a jam out of it!
