See What Happens When You Eat Garlic On an Empty Stomach

Did you know that eating a whole head of garlic a day does miracles for your body?
Garlic – a simple ingredient with amazing health benefits.  It stimulates the immune system and normalizes your gut flora, but since its so powerful, moderation is key. Garlic should be treated like medicine and not over consumed. Growing up in Russia, from an early age, I learned that garlic was to be my first aid choice whether I was getting sick or just as a preventive measure. Nobody ever questioned its powers. Garlic is a powerful natural antibiotic. It Does Work! It kills a very large number of different bacteria. Garlic is widely used in folk and traditional medicine for the treatment of many diseases and ailments. The cultivation of garlic started about 5 thousand years ago. It was used by the Romans, Assyrians, Egyptians, Greeks, Jews, Arabs and many other cultures. Pythagoras called garlic “the king of spices”. The earliest known references indicate that garlic was an important part of the daily diet of the Egyptians;  An Egyptian manuscript from that period includes 800 drugs, of which 22 were made with garlic.

Did you know that eating garlic on an empty stomach is actually  really effective in preventing and treating many diseases?
Scientists have found that when you consume garlic on an empty stomach, it will only increase its power, making it an extremely powerful natural antibiotic. It happens because bacteria is exposed and cannot defend itself from succumbing to its power.

Use Garlic Instead of Antibiotics

Garlic is composed of nitrogenous substances, sodium, potassium, selenium, calcium, magnesium, silicon, sulfuric, phosphoric acid, vitamin C, D, B, phytosterols, extractives, and essential oils. Additionally, garlic is rich in phytoncides, such as  allicin, which is formed by the mechanical destruction of plants, that is – crushing or grinding cloves of garlic. According to some researchers, allicin has a strong bacteriostatic effect which helps cure infections faster. Garlic can also fight fungal infections, which makes garlic a much more valuable medicine than that of many of today’s antibiotics.

Garlic: Nature’s Original Remedy

Garlic contains more than four hundred different mineral components including many antioxidants which, have a number of positive therapeutic properties.

10 Amazing Health Benefits of Garlic

  • Garlic prevents aging and clogging of both major and peripheral arteries.
  • The healing properties of garlic help reduce the level of bad cholesterol in the blood.
  • It is very important to know that garlic  strengthens the immune system, thus increases the body’s ability to withstand the harmful influences of the environment.
  • Garlic kills a large number of various bacteria.
  • Garlic helps protect against heart disease. Garlic reduces the synthesis of triglycerides in the liver which help prevent the development of atherosclerosis.
  • Garlic lowers blood pressure and has anti-inflammatory properties.
  • Garlic is a natural antibiotic and is an effective remedy for colds.
  • It is recommended to use garlic for disorders of the nervous system.
  • Garlic helps kill the cells of multiform glioblastoma’s – a malignant brain tumor.
  • Garlic also acts as an anticoagulant, which thins the blood and prevents the formation of dangerous blood clots (helping to reduce the risk of a stroke or heart attack)

Manuka Honey For People And Pets: Remarkable Healing Properties Destroy Frightening Superbugs Better Than Antibiotics

Manuka honey is a powerful antibacterial, antiviral and anti-inflammatory agent that kills antibiotic-resistant superbugs such as  Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) and Vancomycin-resistant enterococci (VRE). Clinical trials have been conducted into its effectiveness against conditions such as diabetes, bladder infections, skin infections, ulcers and cancer. Due to its tremendous antibacterial and antiviral properties, manuka honey powerful action action diseases such as plague and ebola. Honey has been used medicinally for thousands of years in ancient Greece, in China for Traditional Chinese Medicine and in India with Ayurveda. While western cultures have always seen it as a health food, its medicinal properties are only recently being discovered. Researchers now believe that certain types of honey have stronger healing properties than others. Manuka honey is considered to be one of the most potent, and Western medicine is only just beginning to understand its amazing healing potential. Due to the popularity of Manuka honey, some manufacturers have attempted to cash in on the trend by producing low grade honey and labeling it as authentic Manuka Honey. To let consumers know exactly what they are buying, licensed manufacturers have come up with a labeling system known as the Unique Manuka Factor which lets individuals know the strength and potency of the product.

Where Does Manuka Honey Come From?

Manuka honey is produced by imported European honeybees that harvest pollen from the Manuka tree which grows wild throughout New Zealand and Australia. The Manuka tree is also known as the Tea Tree and produces small white flowers that are responsible for the earthy, herbaceous taste associated with Manuka honey. It has become big business for beekeepers in Australia and New Zealand who are now exporting the honey all over the world.

What is Unique Manuka Factor (UMF)?

Unique Manuka Factor, or UMF, is a quality control scale that lets you know the potency of the honey before you buy it. All whole, raw honey has antibacterial properties due to it containing a small amount of naturally-occurring hydrogen peroxide. Manuka honey contains a unique non-peroxide antibacterial compound that gives the honey its remarkable healing properties. Researchers have named this compound the Unique Manuka Factor and established a standard for measuring the potency of different strains of honey.

The following scale measures the level of non-peroxide antibacterial activity in Manuka honey:

- Unique Manuka Factor 5 – 10 indicates a low level of activity

- Unique Manuka Factor 10 – 15 indicates useful levels of activity

- Unique Manuka Factor 16+ indicates extremely high activity and the honey is considered to be of a superior quality.

Unique Manuka Factor 10 and above is considered to be therapeutic grade honey.

Manuka Health New Zealand Limited has its own system for grading the antibacterial activity of their honey. This system is a trademark of the brand and only appears on their products. Each product has a label giving the MGO content of the honey which stands for Methylglyoxal, an active compound responsible for antibiotic activity. This compound is different from that which is measured by the Unique Manuka Factor. However, the strength of the two different compounds are linked, and you can compare the antibiotic activity of Methylglyoxal versus Unique Manuka Factor using this online tool: http://www.umf.org.nz/umf-trademark/methylglyoxal-npa-honey-conversion-calculator

Diabetes
Honey is an ideal replacement for sugar as it does not raise the body’s blood sugar levels in the way that processed white sugar does. Therefore, the body does not need to produce the same levels of insulin in order to digest it. This is especially useful for diabetics who are required to monitor their sugar intake, and substituting honey for sugar may help to prevent the onset of Type II diabetes which is linked to obesity. A 2012 study performed in Greece found that Manuka Honey impregnated topical dressings were able to shorten the healing time of neuropathic diabetic foot ulcers in diabetic outpatients by almost two weeks. Researchers found that 78.13% of patient’s ulcers treated with Manuka honey become sterile after just one week versus 35.5% for those treated with conventional dressings.

Skin Complaints

Honey has been used for centuries to treat almost every skin condition from burns to acne. Many natural skincare treatments such as facemasks and moisturizers incorporate honey due to its antibacterial and hydrating properties. A study performed in Ireland in 2008 tested the effects of Manuka honey on chronic wounds that did not respond to conventional treatment. This type of wound often has an elevated alkaline level and researchers believed that the natural acidity of honey would be able to counter this. The results showed that Manuka honey was able to alter the pH level of the wound as well as cause a significant decrease in the overall size of the wound.

Bladder Infections

Due to its natural antibacterial activity, honey has been used as a homemade treatment for urinary tract infections for many years. Although there has not yet been any scientific evidence to support the claims, anecdotal and clinical reports indicate that many patients have been able to treat recurring urinary tract infections with a combination of honey and cinnamon.

Stomach Ulcers

Helicobactor Pylori is a type of bacteria that causes chronic inflammation of the stomach lining and is responsible for the vast majority of stomach ulcers. Researchers at the Department of Biological Sciences in New Zealand found that a solution of 5% Manuka honey was able to prevent the growth of helicobactor pylori bacteria taken from 5 separate biopsies of gastric ulcers.

MRSA

Some of the best-known studies of the effects of Manuka honey against superbugs such as MRSA were carried out in various universities and research centers in Australia and New Zealand…

9 Reasons to Think Twice Before Taking Antibiotics Ever Again

http://themindunleashed.org/wp-content/uploads/2014/10/9-reasons.jpg

Paul Fassa, Natural Society | A study published by Mayo Clinic found that almost 70% of Americans are on at least one pharmaceutical; antibiotics top the list, followed by antidepressants, and opioid pain killers. This is a problem in of itself, as it the United States has transformed into a pill-popping, medication-dependent nation. What’s worse is that antibiotics in particular are doled out in copious, unnecessary amounts, so much so that bacteria are developing major resistance to this conventional treatment. This is now a potential danger of antibiotics, and a serious grand-scale side effect of antibiotic use.
Even the WHO is calling this resistance a global health crisis, and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says that the age of antibiotics must come to an end. That is the first (1) reason to avoid antibiotic use.
While antibiotics have helped greatly with modern medicine, it seems that we need to start looking for alternative solutions. Here are 8 more compelling reasons to just say no to antibiotics.

8 MORE REASONS TO REFUSE ANTIBIOTICS

1. IBD (INFLAMMATORY BOWEL DISEASE)

According to a 2011 article published by Fox News, a scientific link has been established between antibiotic use and colitis. Antibiotic-induced colitis is caused by the toxins exuded by the bacteriumClostridium difficile following antibiotic treatment. While the majority of other intestinal bacteria have been killed off by the antibiotic, Clostridium difficile grows rapidly and releases toxins that damage the intestinal wall.
In fact, Crohn’s disease which has spread epidemic like over the past 50 years parallels the introduction and widespread use of antibiotics. There’s even a theory postulated by a couple of German scientists that Crohn’s is actually the mutation created from normal gut bacteria by antibiotics.

2. LIVER DAMAGE

A new study published in the journal Gastroenterology found that although all types of prescription drugs are linked to liver damage, antibiotics in particular were the worst offenders – the drug class most likely to cause serious harm to the liver. John Gever, Senior Editor of MedPage Today reported one researcher stating, “antimicrobial agents are the most common cause of drug-induced liver failure, with most cases ending in death or transplant.”

3. CANCER LINK

One study found that those who had taken 6 or more antibiotic prescriptions had a 1.5 times greater risk of less common cancers compared with study participants who had the lowest antibiotic exposure.
Taking some antibiotics may slightly increase the risk of developing colon cancer, one study suggests. After controlling for known risk factors for colorectal cancer including obesity, diabetes, smoking, and alcohol, researchers found that those who had taken antibiotics, including penicillins, quinolones, and metronidazole, were 8 to 11% more likely to develop colorectal cancer.
A 2008 study by the International Journal of Cancer reported, “those who had taken 2-5 antibiotic prescriptions had a 27% increase in cancers compared to those who took none. Those who took six or more prescriptions had a 37% increase in cancers.”

4. AIDS

Perhaps it is no accident that the same group with the highest incidence of so called AIDS (view the video: “House of Numbers”) is also the group that uses more antibiotics than any other group in America.

5. CHRONIC FATIGUE SYNDROME

Repeated antibiotic use has been linked with chronic viral illness, including chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS). About.com reports:
“Prominent ME/CFS researcher Kenny de Meirleir announced that he and his Belgian research team have uncovered a major cause of ME/CFS and a major underlying mechanism of the condition. According to Dr. de Meirleir, a major cause of ME/CFS is a high level of the chemical hydrogen sulfide (H2S). H2S can build up after antibiotic use, salmonella infection, or too much mercury exposure.”

6. POSSIBLE FUNGAL AND BACTERIAL OVERGROWTHS

Antibiotic use triggers the release of endotoxins (toxins produced within the body), which suppress the immune system. They destroy the “communication pathways between cells of the immune system”
Homestead.com explains, “Without these pathways in operation, immune cells don’t attack. Healthy gut flora supports immune function but does not replace those communication pathways.”

7. WEAKENED IMMUNE SYSTEM

Peter J. D’Adamo, ND, is  a naturopathic physician and author known for his pioneering research on the interconnectedness of human blood groups, lifestyle, nutrition, and health.
Dr. D’Adamo explained:
“When you allow your body to go to war on its own terms, without antibiotic intervention, it develops not only a memory of specific antibodies to the current infection and any similar to it, but also the ability to fight more effectively the next time it is challenged or attacked.”
In other words, the “invaders” are getting stronger, but our immune systems are less prepared to handle them. Antibiotics suppress the immune system, as opposed to merely assisting it to do its job more effectively. In fact, antibiotics “cut off immune response.” They can reduce the level of infection, but they cannot eradicate it; only the immune system can do that.

8. MITOCHONDRIAL DAMAGE

Pharmaceuticals are a major cause of mitochondrial damage, including statin medications, analgesics such as acetaminophen, antibiotics, and many others. Structurally, mitochondria are essentially modified bacteria. Antibiotics indiscriminately target bacteria. Mitochondrial disorders commonly manifest as neurological disorders, for example, neuropathy.

Moringa: The Ideal Food For Everyone?

PRLog (Press Release) – Feb. 8, 2014 – BERLIN, Germany
— The Moringa story must be told as many people are still in the dark about this wonderful blessing from nature. With a world grappling from malnutrition, our hope lies in this plant whose leaves are capable of wiping every aspect of malnutrition out of the world not to talk of the many benefits derived from other parts of it, namely: the seeds, flowers, roots and bark. Among all the plants I know I cannot think of a more nutritious one than Moringa. Moringa Oleifera – one of nature’s best-kept health and nutrition secrets What is Moringa? For centuries, people in Asia and Africa have had access to moringa oleifera, one of nature’s most nutritious foods. Often called the Tree of Life or Mother’s Best Friend, it provides families–infants, children, parents, and grandparents–with an abundance of minerals, vitamins, calcium, proteins, and beneficial antioxidants and amino acids. This generous and bountiful plant is life sustaining. In the world of nutrition and natural health, there are some foods that come out of nowhere and then BAM – one day it’s all you hear about. One of those foods is Moringa, often referred to as the Miracle Tree. But unlike some of the hyped up trend-foods of years past, there really are some benefits worth noting when it comes to this one. Without further ado, here are some of the many unknown moringa benefits. Praised for its medicinal value and ability to purify the body while boosting energy levels, Moringa oleifera, is native to the Himalayas of India. Currently, it’s growth is most prevalent in Africa, Central and South America, and Asia. But it’s effects are being felt around the world. Moringa Benefits It’s difficult to find a report online concerning the benefits of this tree from someone who is not involved in trying to turn a profit—and that’s the way it usually goes with these new superfoods. However, if you are willing to dig a bit deeper, there is evidence that this plant has the potential to kill bacteria and parasites, fight diabetes, lower blood pressure, and reduce inflammation throughout the body.

Honey and Ginger Kill Superbugs Better than Pharmaceutical Meds

by Christina Sarich
Bacteria have been morphing into resistant strains of superbugs that make it very difficult for pharmaceutical companies to keep up with them, but research coming out of Ethiopia’s College of Medicine at the University of Gondar proves we don’t need Big Pharma to treat diseases that it ironically helped to create. A combination of ginger powder extract and honey are so effective that they inhibit the growth of superbugs like MRSA, E Coli, and even the bacteria that causes Pneumonia.
MRSA (methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus), Escherichia coli, and Klebsiella pneumoniae  are some of the most damaging superbugs around. Yet when researchers compared Ethiopian honey combined with ginger powder to three different antibiotics and their ability to kill superbugs, the ginger and honey combination won over the pharmaceutical drugs  not by a little – but considerably. (They also tested a ginger-water solution for good measure).
honeyginger
Each ‘broth’ that the superbugs were exposed to was cultured for 20-24 hours. The three antibiotics used were some of the most ‘powerful’ the industry has ever created: methicillin, amoxicillin, and penicillin.
5 tests for each treatment of bacteria were conducted:
  • Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA and non-MRSA)
  • Escherichia coli (two different strains)
  • Klebsiella pneumoniae
With all three superbugs, the ginger and honey combination was more effective at inhibiting growth than any of the antibiotics. The only antibiotic that even came close was amoxicillin.
The mean inhibition levels of this dynamic duo averaged 25.62 and ranged from 19 to 30 – beating out all the pharmaceutical antibiotics by a landslide.
The ginger extract wasn’t made with any fancy process either. Researchers simply dried sliced root pieces at 37 degrees for 24 hours and then ground them and blended them with methanol and ethanol to make a 50% solution. This was then blended with the honey to make an exact 50-50 combination.
The water extract of the ginger had no inhibition of the bacteria. This is what other research has indicated – that alcohol apparently extracts the antibiotic constituents from the ginger.

Why You Should Eat Avocado Seeds

Why You Should Eat Avocado Seeds

Avocado Heart 2
Did you know that avocado seeds are full of great health benefits?
Avocado seeds have more antioxidants than most fruits and veggies and contain polyphenols similar to those found in green tea. They are full of more soluble fiber than most foods, which aids in digestion and circulation. In South America, avocado seeds are used to treat dysentery and other GI tract problems. The seeds contain lots of phenolic compounds that can prevent bacterial and viral diseases as well as gastric ulcers.
Eating the seeds may also aid in the prevention of cardiovascular disease and strokes. Avocado seed lowered cholesterol levels and may protect against arterial plaque formation, according to a study published in the March 2012 journal Plant Foods in Human Nutrition. Researchers credited the seed’s high content of dietary fiber in lowering cholesterol levels by binding to cholesterol in the intestinal tract and preventing absorption.
Antioxidant activity of avocado seed might also stop cardiovascular disease by preventing lipid oxidation, a process that leads to arterial plaque formation.
Avocado seeds contain a range of antioxidant phytochemicals, including flavanols and proanthocyanidins. These important antioxidants protect your body from free radicals associated with aging and disease. A 2003 study found that the seed of an avocado is much higher in antioxidants, as much as 70 percent greater, than the fruit itself.
Avocado seeds also have natural antibiotic and anti-fungal benefits. According to one study, avocado seed extracts inhibited an assortment of pathogens, including Candida and the mosquito that carries the tropical disease, yellow fever.
Reap the health benefits of avocado seeds today:
Step 1
Cut the avocado and remove the pit. To do this, slice into the avocado and cut it around the pit to remove the halves cleanly. Then insert the tip of your knife into the pit, twist and remove carefully, removing from the end of the knife. Use the avocado on sandwiches or in dips, remembering to save the pit.
Step 2
Grind the pit into a find powder using a very powerful food processor. The pit is very dense and hard and can damage a weaker food processor. It should have very sharp blades and be contained completely.
The seeds can also be dried in a plastic bag. Once dried, crush them with a hammer and grind in a heavy duty blender. The seeds can also be sliced and roasted in the oven. Avocado seeds are bitter, so the best way to eat them is to add them to smoothies or juices.
The Horrifying Truth About Avocados

Avocados are a truly spectacular food. Packed full of good fats, carotenoids, folate, and yes, even cancer-fighting nutrients, some have argued that the avocado could be the world’s most perfect food. Just a single bite of this creamy, earthy fruit (yes, it’s a fruit) and you’ll find it difficult to argue with this superlative.
If it seems too good to be true, you might just be right. I recently learned that like diamonds, avocados have a dark and bloody side that almost no one knows about.
The avocado tree is native to Mexico and Central America, so it comes as no surprise that this region still produces most of the world’s supply. In Western Mexico, “avocado farms occupy vast stretches of land, and the rows of low-growing trees resemble the olive gardens of southern Europe,” writes Jan-Albert Hootsen for Vocativ.com. This idyllic setting indicates nothing of the sinister side of the avocado trade, however.
In Michoacán, a state in western Mexico, the avocado is commonly referred to as oro verde, green gold, because it yields more cash than any other crop—including marijuana. And anytime there’s money to be made, corruption isn’t far behind.
“A drug cartel known as the Caballeros Templarios, the Knights Templar, has infiltrated the avocado sector, and now controls the local trade, from production to distribution,” writes Hootsen. “The cartel derived from an earlier group of drug traffickers known as La Familia Michoacana…Not content to traffic marijuana, cocaine and heroin, La Familia set up a variety of extortion rackets in Michoacán. The avocado business was one of them.” Now, farmers must deal with constant extortion, and the reality that The Templarios could take over their plantations and packing plants whenever they want.
The cartel always gets what it wants, both from the avocado farmers and the government bodies that are supposed to regulate them. Through bribes and the threat of violence, Templarios have gained access to official lists of farmers, how much land they cultivate, and how much they produce. This way, the criminals know exactly how much money to demand from the farmers.
“Every link in the avocado production chain is a cash cow for the cartel, from the quadrilleros, or pickers (whose employment agencies are forced to pay $3.50 per worker per day), to those who buy, develop and sell plantations,” writes Hootsen. “The extortion racket is lucrative. In some municipalities, the estimated proceeds come to $3 million per year.”
The truly horrifying part is that unlike drugs and human trafficking (the other favorite pastimes of the cartel) we are all culpable. More than 80 percent of Michoacán’s avocados are exported to the United States. That means every time we crack open one of these precious green fruits, every time we dip a chip into a bowl of guacamole, we’re helping to fuel the cartel’s violent takeover of the avocado industry in Mexico.
The only way to avoid being part of this vicious cycle is to seek out domestically grown avocados, such as those from California, and to support farmers’ rights around the world.
